FORBES: Greetings from Europe Edmonton Sun. What’s different about Europe? The money, the cars (small), pickup trucks (none), motorcycles (lots), scooters (lots and lots), bicycles (more than lots and lots), the roads, the food, the language(s), the people, the television and radio, the buildings, the homes/castles/palaces, the laws, the music, the sports, the beliefs, the electric systems, the history (thousands of years) well…almost everything. In the major cities most people speak, on average, three different languages. Many speak about five. It’s an amazing and diverse country with history that dates back to the beginning of time.

I’m in Munich, Germany as you read this after a four country river cruise that included Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, and Germany. It’s my sixth trip over and suffice to say, “I heart Europe!” It’s refreshingly different and interesting. While we watch the current struggles of the land just beneath Canada it’s just so different and refreshing watching a continent exist with several different languages, religions and beliefs and how they deal with their various differences in life day to day. Somehow it all just works and there’s nothing more rewarding than just sitting down and carving out an enjoyable conversation between two people from two different backgrounds with little understanding of the other’s language and way of life. Budapest was a joy.

Bratislava very charming. Vienna an absolute fairytale and a gold mine of history. Salzburg was a huge highlight.

Munich, and Germany, never disappoints. River cruising is worry free and relaxing … stopping in the heart of most cities. There’s little wasted time as you mingle with the locals and tour buildings that defy time and history on how they were built, so high and opulent, with tools that were simply basic! The cruises are floating hotels and five- star service day in and day out.

We met people from all over the world and conversations helped enrich my knowledge of their parts of the globe. Watch Green Chair Putlocker#. Conversing in various languages can be both frustrating and fun. On a trip to Zurich awhile back my Barista said “mind a little space?” (room for cream) while a German server on this trip was ready to pour my coffee and said “may I enter for you?”Don’t be surprised if they get your food order wrong too over here and be patient receiving your bill. Munich. Last week the King of Sweden stayed here. Michael Jackson also has history in this glorious hotel and last week two local ladies returned to build a touching tribute to him for his birthday in the park in front of the hotel. I highly recommend hopping over the big pond, if you can, and maybe just maybe you will find out that it is totally fine to be different from your next door neighbour or those from other lifestyles or backgrounds.
